Ministry to push quality control

The Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts has started a laboratory and a department to check on the quality and safety of local products to be exported, state news agency AKP reported on April 5. Phouk Sovannarith, a secretary of state at the MIH, said in the report that the new evaluation laboratory run by MTS will give accreditation to local products after they have been checked for quality and safety, a move that is expected to increase exports of locally made goods. “Creating the lab as a standard is important because in the past experiments on some products exported from Cambodia required them to be checked again,” Mr. Sovannarith said.
